Jeremi Washington, owner of The Gulf Coast Flash is bringing a semi-professional basketball team to Gulfport. The team is part of the American Basketball Association, a National league.

The team is set to be completely organized and ready to play in the ABA’s 2010-2011 season, which begins in November. Gulf Coast Flash will play its home games at the Harrison Cental High School.

The organizations full intent is to inspire local players by giving them the opportunity to play in this league and springboard them into into NBA programs or overseas leagues.

Other roster positions will be filled by players from across the Country on a competitive basis.

The Gulf Coast Flash Organization also knows that community involvement and its perception of the team are vital elements in building a great fan base, especially at the minor-league level, which is why the organization expects its players to be positive role models for our youth and participate in community projects in addition to playing well on the court.

Gulf Coast Flash is very optimistic about bringing the team and league to the Mississippi Coast. And they are looking forward to establishing a more permanent home at the Coast Coliseum within the next two years.
